Sereno resistant to wart disease pathotype 38

Official research has shown that the potato variety Sereno from Semagri is completely resistant to wart disease pathotype 38. This is good news for growers in areas where this pathotype is present, as the number of varieties resistant to pathotype 38 is limited.
Wart disease is caused by the fungus Synchytrium endobioticum, which has several variants or "pathotypes." pathotype 38 has been present in the Netherlands since 2020. In the Netherlands, continuous research is being conducted into the resistance of potato varieties.
Sereno is a late starch variety with high yield and broad AM resistances. In addition, it is completely resistant to wart disease pathotype 1 and partially resistant to pathotype 6. Now, complete resistance to pathotype 38 has been added.
